I love my pottery slab roller but the canvas I’ve been using creates creases that are hard to remove from the clay. I’m trying to make the most of it in a few pieces, but what can I do to the canvas to stop this? I use a thick piece of canvas, and I did not wash it when I started. If it were clean clothes, I’d iron it but it has yucky clay residue on it. I like canvas so I don’t want to start using linoleum, or Tyvek or some other material. I just need to know what to do to the canvas to get it right. Do I wash it? Will it just get better the longer I use it? What is your experience? I’ll post a photo later of a piece I’m making with those creases.
Miraculous Tapas Plates (in progress)
Its always the little things that make me super happy. I saw a demo from LaPella Pottery (click on photo to get it) about how to make these little plates. I’m still learning a few tricks for using my homemade slab roller (which you can see the roller off to the side) so this just blew me away. So I found some foam and already had a few pieces of wood - all of which is in the photo. Try it!! I will be making lots of these. When finished I’ll make some tapas to show them off…
